The Experience of Depth Psychotherapy

What happens in depth psychotherapy?

Depth psychotherapy explores the parts of your life that have remained largely outside awareness: the protective strategies, emotional patterns, and personal stories that have shaped your choices throughout your life. It addresses a question many women ask themselves: If I know what I need to do—or stop doing—why can't I seem to do it?

These ways of organizing experience once helped you survive. They may even have protected you. Over time, however, they can begin to limit your freedom, vitality, and ability to respond creatively to life's changing circumstances. What once protected you may no longer serve you.

Depth psychotherapy gives you time to listen more carefully to yourself. Together we explore your experiences, relationships, family patterns, symptoms, dreams, and the meanings that have guided your life.

Dreams and images become part of our work whenever they naturally arise. They often reveal possibilities that conscious thought alone cannot see, while always remaining grounded in the life you are living today.

This work unfolds through conversation, reflection, imagination, memory, dreams, and the presence of another attentive mind. Rather than following a fixed protocol, we allow understanding, meaning, and direction to emerge over time.

Women arrive in many different conditions and situations. Some come in crisis. Others come during awakening, loss, refusal, or unexpected opportunity. Some simply recognize that the life they have built is no longer the whole life they want to live. The work meets each woman where she is and accompanies what is unfolding within her.

Over the course of my career, I have found that lasting change rarely comes from managing symptoms alone. It comes from understanding ourselves more deeply. Again and again, I have seen women discover that as unconscious patterns become conscious, they gain greater freedom to choose the lives they genuinely want to live.

Why Depth Psychotherapy?

Depth work is not classical psychoanalysis. It is not coaching or self-help. It is a contemporary form of psychotherapy that values imagination, personal authority, emotional depth, and the lifelong capacity for growth.

Rather than focusing only on relieving symptoms, depth psychotherapy seeks to understand the unconscious beliefs, emotional patterns, and protective strategies that continue to influence life long after they are no longer necessary. As these become understood, new possibilities begin to emerge.

The Work We Do Together

Through dreams, guided imagery, reflective dialogue, and careful exploration, we discover the deeper forces that drive perfectionism, people-pleasing, exhaustion, self-doubt, and resistance to change. Together we translate insight into healthier boundaries, practical choices, and new ways of living. The goal is not simply insight, but the freedom to live with greater purpose, authenticity, and vitality.

We work with dreams and images whenever they arise, always keeping the process connected to your everyday life and relationships.
