For more than four decades, I have devoted my professional life to helping women discover greater freedom, confidence, and meaning through depth psychotherapy. Today I work exclusively with women in midlife and beyond who are ready to explore not only what has been painful in their lives, but also what is still waiting to unfold.
Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist since 1981, I offer private virtual psychotherapy for women throughout California, Arizona, Florida, and Oregon.
About My Work
Throughout my career, I have specialized in eating disorder recovery, guided imagery, trauma-informed psychotherapy, and depth and psychoanalytic approaches to psychotherapy.
The relationship that develops between us is an important part of our work. Over time, I come to know you- your history, your relationships, your struggles, your strengths, your dreams, and the ways you have learned to move through the world.
More than that, I become attuned to your emotions, including those you may not yet recognize or have words for yourself. Together, we make room for what, perhaps, you have tried not to feel and begin to understand what you have been unable to articulate, even to yourself, in the past.
Our conversations build on what we have discovered, allowing you to recognize and respect your own strengths and become more aware of your deepest wishes for your life. As trust develops between us, we can explore whatever emerges.
I am also the author of Healing Your Hungry Heart: Recovering from Your Eating Disorder and have spent decades writing to help women understand themselves with greater compassion, insight, and depth.
My Professional Orientation
I believe lasting psychological change comes through understanding rather than pleasing others or fighting yourself.
As what has remained outside awareness becomes more conscious, what limits you can begin to loosen its hold. What strengthens you becomes more available, bringing greater freedom, creativity, emotional resilience, and choice.Dreams are often part of our work together. They offer a deeply personal window into the unconscious, revealing possibilities and perspectives that may not yet be available through conscious thought alone.
Over the years I have come to believe that emotional healing is only part of psychotherapy. The deeper work is discovering the person you are capable of becoming and the life that more fully expresses what matters most to you.
Again and again I have watched women surprise themselves—not by becoming someone different, but by becoming more completely themselves.
Education and Professional Development
My formal education includes a B.A. from UCLA and an M.A. from Antioch University, followed by postgraduate doctoral study in psychology at Saybrook Institute.
My education as a psychotherapist has continued throughout my professional life. I have pursued extensive postgraduate training through the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies, as well as certificate programs in Jungian studies through the C. G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles.
Over the years, my continuing study has encompassed eating disorders, psychoanalytic and depth psychology, trauma and PTSD, attachment theory, neuroscience and affect regulation, developmental psychology, mindfulness and meditation, guided imagery and psychodrama, systems theory, Self Psychology, dissociative disorders, and the integration of Eastern and Western approaches to psychological healing.
If you feel drawn to this way of working, I invite you to request a complimentary 20-minute telephone consultation. We can talk about what brings you to psychotherapy, discuss your questions, and consider whether working together feels right for both of us.
